to assist government and organizations by developing information and communication strategies.
to provide training, consultancy and advisory services to enable government and organizations to identify appropriate policies for information management and the implementation of new knowledge and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for improving the efficiency and relevance of activities.
to enable researchers, system managers, policy makers and administrators better informed when decisions are taken in applying Information and Communication Technologies or while developing Information Infrastructures.
to act as a center of excellence in informatics research and development
to provide consultancy on; modification of policies for human resource development in light of new information and communication technologies, establishing legal frameworks for the protection of knowledge and innovations, and related aspects.
to work in an action/research mode, aimed at generating information technology based tools to support decisions concerning information technology implementations.
to help organizations to adopt state of the art information technology practices so that the information services are made more efficient and innovative.
to contribute to national development through research, partnerships, capacity building and policy support for managing and disseminating information that can promote sustainable development based on the sound management of resources.
to identify and prioritize areas in various sectors where Information and Communication Technology applications can provide substantial benefits.
to assist the government and other organizations in Information Technology application for conserving our cultural heritage, ancient indigenous knowledge on science and technology, and related activities.
to evolve standards and guidelines for various aspects of information collection, organization, processing, dissemination and for developing information infrastructures and networks.
to pursue and strengthen inter-disciplinary research and studies relating to, computer science, communication technology and ancient Indian Sciences.
to assist in the development and strengthening of State and National Informatics Systems and for providing appropriate technical know-how.
to provide a forum for Information and Communication Technology application in various spheres of activity and to promote interaction among all persons, bodies and institutions interested in promoting the objectives as stated in Para 7(a) to (l) above.
